heART of Seeing

I was inspired by  Kim Manley Ort  and Nathan Wirth  to come up with a visual CV, where I try to answer some questions with a series of images instead of words. It was a fun and enlightening exercise, to look within in this manner. It was not an easy task as the same image could have answered several different questions, but for now these are probably close to it. Who Are You? Why Photography? What Is Your Trademark Photography Style? What Truly Inspires You? Where Do You Go When You Close Your Eyes? Where Is Home For You? How Would You Describe Your Lifestyle? What Makes A Great Shot? How Do You View The World? What Is An Important Lesson You've Learned?

In many spiritual traditions, the lotus is perhaps one of the most  celebrated flowers that there is. It is a powerful image and is considered a sacred flower.  I am drawn to the lotus flower not only for their beauty but also for their symbolism. “The lotus is the most beautiful flower, whose petals open one by one. But it will only grow in the mud. In order to grow and gain wisdom, first you must have the mud — the obstacles of life and its suffering. … The mud speaks of the common ground that humans share, no matter what our stations in life. … Whether we have it all or we have nothing, we are all faced with the same obstacles: sadness, loss, illness, dying and death. When I was a kid, looking through stained windows or windows that are blurred by raindrops sparked off my fascination with ghosts, witches and all things supernatural. I will try to look for my own reflection in the window till I recognised myself staring into my own eyes.   These days, looking through them again, conveys different emotions and feelings, quite often transporting me to another time and place   Let me in ... According to Colin Nicholas , "The Orang Asli are the indigenous minority peoples of Peninsular Malaysia. The name is a Malay term which transliterates as 'original peoples' or 'first peoples'."  They all live on the Peninsular of Malaysia. Project Love Orang Asli (Project LOA), is part of the AsiaWorks Leadership Program's contribution to the community in Malaysia. It serves to develop the small village of Kampung Orang Asli Batu 16 in Gombak, Malaysia into a place for tourism.  I was invited to the LP186 team's fund raising event on the 3rd of January and did not pass up the opportunity to start the new year contributing to a good cause. Located at the area between Kuala Lumpur and Genting Highlands, this village is a potential place for tourism, and also a close getaway for a short city break.
