In many spiritual traditions, the lotus is perhaps one of the most  celebrated flowers that there is. It is a powerful image and is considered a sacred flower.  I am drawn to the lotus flower not only for their beauty but also for their symbolism. “The lotus is the most beautiful flower, whose petals open one by one. But it will only grow in the mud. In order to grow and gain wisdom, first you must have the mud — the obstacles of life and its suffering. … The mud speaks of the common ground that humans share, no matter what our stations in life. … Whether we have it all or we have nothing, we are all faced with the same obstacles: sadness, loss, illness, dying and death. Autumn is a bridge to the past and future, rolled into one moment of waking to a golden sky, when the leaves fell from the trees and their branches stood bare against the wind and cold air. This deep ache to shed, perhaps it is a yearning, for the moment when my heart can breathe free. Over on this part of the world, it is not really autumn, but when we see and feel with our hearts, the four seasons are just a heartbeat away.
